The Times Universities Rankings 2024, a globally recognized ranking institution, has recently released its annual list of top universities worldwide. The University of Oxford in London has secured the top position, demonstrating its continued commitment to academic excellence.

Pakistans University Rankings: A Global Perspective

The rankings include 15 Pakistani universities, reflecting the country’s efforts to improve its higher education sector. However, it is disappointing to note that despite significant financial investments, none of these institutions have managed to secure a spot among the top 400 universities globally. The only exception is Quaid-e-Azam University, which has been ranked within the range of 401 to 500 universities worldwide.

Regional Variance in Ranking

Among the 15 Pakistani universities featured, 14 have secured positions within the rankings, falling in the range of 600 to 1000. Notably, no institutions from Sindh or Balochistan are represented in this category. This regional disparity highlights the need for more focused efforts to uplift educational standards across all provinces.

Global Standings Beyond Pakistan

The global rankings also feature a diverse set of institutions from other countries. These include two universities each from Saudi Arabia, Iran, and India, three from Turkey, and an impressive seven from China.
