Scotland’s participation in T20 World Cup possible as ICC announce contingency plan Amid Bangladesh fear, The International Cricket Council (ICC) has said that Scotland could feature in the upcoming T20 tournament if Bangladesh boycotts it being hosted in India security fears.
The decision was during an ICC Board meeting in Dubai after the majority of board members voted to unilaterally name a replacement team based on ICC’s team rankings. With 15 directors participating in that debate, only Pakistan backed Bangladesh’s position.
The gathering took place after the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) formally contacted the ICC and other member boards in response to express solidarity with the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) over security concerns it had raised earlier.
Representatives from all full member nations attended the meeting, along with senior ICC officials and associate member directors. The ICC Anti-Corruption Unit head also briefed the board following discussions with the BCB in Dhaka.
The situation remains under review, but as things stand Scotland will be the frontrunner should Bangladesh not travel to the tournament.
