QS Asia University Rankings 2024: Pakistani University Ranked in Top 100

The 2024 QS Asia University Rankings have been released, and the results have sparked concerns about the state of education in Pakistan. Only three Pakistani universities made it to the list, a significant drop from the previous year when 15 institutions were included.
Quaid-i-Azam University was the highest-ranked Pakistani institution, securing the 86th spot. This university is the only one from Pakistan to be ranked within the top 100. It also holds a position at 315 in the 2024 QS World University Rankings. The other two Pakistani universities that made it to the list are Iqra University, Karachi, and Allama Iqbal Open University, which were placed in the 301-350 and 801+ brackets respectively.
In contrast, India has outperformed China by having 148 universities on the list, making it the country with the highest number of universities among the top institutions in Asia.

The top spot in the rankings was claimed by Peking University, followed closely by The University of Hong Kong and National University of Singapore (NUS). Other universities in the top 10 include Nanyang Technological University, Singapore (NTU Singapore), Tsinghua University, Zhejiang University, Fudan University, Yonsei University, Korea University, and The Chinese University of Hong Kong (CUHK).
The significant decrease in the number of Pakistani universities on the list compared to the previous year raises questions about the current state of education standards in the country. It underscores the need for improvements and reforms in the education sector to ensure that Pakistani universities can compete on an international level.
