Fans finally got their first look Taika Waititilatest movie, Next Goal Wins. EW has released the first images for the upcoming movie in which he will be starring. Michael Fassbender aspect Thomas RongenFinding himself on the other side of the world, a Dutch football coach takes over the worst football team on the planet.
After a world-record defeat in a competitive international football match, the American Samoa national team sought to rebound after their humiliating 31-0 defeat against Australia by bringing in a new-minded manager. The move to appoint Rongen was covered in the 2014 documentary of the same name, and Waititi saw enough potential in the story to make his own feature film.
“I watched it years ago and couldn’t believe I had never heard this story before,” said newly released Waititi. Thor: Love and Thunder which was published in the summer. “I had never made a sports movie before and I really wanted to try it out. It’s about a sport I don’t know much about. Rugby is a national sport in New Zealand, but it’s about the oppressed and I just love stories of the underdog. Most of my movies are with people living on the border or a little bit marginalized. It’s about and fits me perfectly. It’s a true story, but it has all the elements that all great sports have. It’s in the movies. It’s basically Great Runs your football.”
Fassbender will play Rongen, who is the only person on the team to answer the team’s call for a new coach, as Waititi explains: “He had a pretty good playing career, and then he did a lot of coaching work in America. He was the one who said, ‘I’m going to go over there and give it a try.
In addition to Fassbender, the film also Elizabeth Moss and Will Arnettas Rongen’s ex-wife and a football manager, respectively. Samoan-New Zealand actor Oscar Knightley as well as playing the president of the American Samoa football federation Kamainaplaying trans football player Jaiyah Saelua. Waititi says of Jaiya, “Jaiya is a trans actor – one of the star players on the team – and much of the movie revolves around his relationship with Thomas Rongen.”
Next Goal Wins It was co-written by Waititi and Ian Morris. Also in the cast of the movie David Fane, Beulah Koale, Lehi Falepapalangi, Semu Filipo, Uli Latukefuand Rachel House. Produced by Waititi, Jonathan Cavendish, Garrett Basch, Mike Brett, and Steve Jamison.
